I was pretty jazzed about voting for Kamala in 2024, I have money to her campaign, and I have no resentment towards her, but she absolutely should not run for the nomination. You get one at-bat. That’s it.

She's like if a funny-shaped gerrymandered district were a person and talked about freedom a lot.

I am not putting any weight in polling until there are declared candidates. And even then, I am going to wait a few months

Totally wrong. I live in a county with one of the strongest Dem Party voter base out there and people do not like or want Harris. She will not be the nominee.

She is going to show up to the 28 debates with '24 talking points and get her kneecaps blown off by someone younger, hungrier and more trustworthy. I'm kinda of eager for the inevitable humiliation ritual that '28 will be for my most hated Dems (Newsom&Rahm)

This is why she flamed out in the 2020 primary and (probably) why she lost to Trump. If you don't have sincere beliefs you are willing to communicate to voters, you will turn off swing voters. Having bad or evil beliefs beats insincere opinion-chasing.

If you have no clue what she stands for, then the highly paid consultants who have triangulated her into irrelevance have done their job. In this, she is the quintessential establishment Dem.

The test for Harris will be whether enough Democrats are energized by her. She feels “inevitable” and I think Dems are going to want more energy than a pol who just serves as an empty vessel to channel the zeitgeist.

Polling people before anyone even declares, let alone debates, is just so stupid. This is a nothing poll that says nothing. People remember the last dem pres nominee, good for them I guess?

Yes. There are so many individual issues, each of which is sufficient grounds for revolution, that I can’t respect a candidate who won’t choose at least ONE.

I like Harris, I think she's smart, personable and would have made a decent president but if she's on the ballot in 2028, it will be essentially asking the majority of American voters to admit they made a mistake and that's not something people like to do.

she's fallen pretty heavily into the Romney trap, with her primary stance coming across as "wants to be president". she's obviously far from the first person to fall into that trap, and it's one that is hard to recall an example of someone pulling themself out of.

I like her, but I agree. She’s the “competent choice” all around, but what exactly are we voting for with her if she gets the nomination this time? It can’t just be anti-Trump and hope again. There must be real change. I’m still hoping Buttigieg runs.

Seems like she was fairly consistent in CA politics and the Senate through her Presidential run (fairly progressive?) and then decided to put zero distance between herself and Biden even when it was clear he was done in electoral politics forever. Kinda betting that his collapse was all about age.

That's not the most frustrating part. The most frustrating part is that whatever platform she announces will be one that would've easily won in 2024.

The Dems need a face for the future, not a face from the past. Someone that people can pin their hopes to, and then get disillusioned by. Starting with the disillusionment isn't a winner for Dems. (Republicans who want you to believe that the world never changes? Sure.)

She'll likely carry red states in the primary. Her on the ticket will dampen voter turnout in the general as well, imo. If this happens I'm 100% voting 3rd party (mostly cus I'm in CA)

I think you should get one shot to run for president. You lose the primary, you lose the general, you're done.

In Canada we have a centrist party that stands for nothing: the Liberals. Nothing = neoliberalism. What this means in practice is that they are socially liberal rhetorically, especially when poll chasing, and govern as fiscal conservatives. Harris strikes me as this kind of Democrat.

It’s a lot easier as well to say “Dem voting base” when the actual percentage of people registered to either major party is about 47%. So Dem voting base is somewhere around 25-30% of actually voters. Need to rely on more than name recognition and party affiliation.

That's because she's pragmatic, which understandably means that you don't immediately swing for the fences if you don't think the public will support it. But apparently it also means never really committing to any specific cause or telling everyone what you really stand for, for some stupid reason

My thing about a lot of California Democrats (not all) is that they often seem to lick their finger and hold it up to the wind to see which way it is blowing. The statewide electeds in CA tend to be unprincipled and it worries me.

The thing I always think of with her, is after doing the only thing anyone remembered her for in 2019 (the “that girl was me” moment), she was asked about being that same person’s VP nominee and her response was basically “ it was the primaries, nothing we said mattered”

Kamala Harris stands for Kamala Harris. She's always been a naked careerist eager to clumsily mold her image for whatever she imagines will meet the moment. She is a void.

I think every time she gets close to letting us know who she is and what she cares about, her handlers and campaign consultants rush in and stop her, and they're doing her a real disservice when they do that.

For me, it will always be the lack of Palestinian Americans at a convention that was dedicated to a woman who was famous for being excluded due to her race by the Democrats. It's not necessarily why she lost, but it definitely didn't help the enthusiasm gap.
