Please note: I’m referring to her response above… I have not reviewed her past statements, which I know have been more controversial. My point is just supporting this post: her answer here is a positive sign… a first step to earn voter trust.

It was a solid answer. I think a lot of so-called elites are badly misjudging how “socialism” plays with people. We aren’t in the era of socialism as the nanny state, we’re in the era where socialism sounds a lot like “normal” government compared to a fascist MAGA Trumpism. Hong seems… normal.

There is so much of this “centrist contrarianism” out there and it’s all pretty insufferable doggerel.

This is absolutely laughable. This administration is so dumb that they think people don’t get their clumsy heavy-handedness. Even a lot of MAGA true believers think “come on guys, be a little subtle for fucks’ sake.”

Tee hee, maybe we’ll violate the constitution.

How many times do mainstream news outlets express outrage that the president of the United States is defaming an entire class of citizens? Spoiler alert: zero

Does anyone believe that this data request is because they want to learn how to protect consumers…. Or is it more likely they want to find ways to deny people (e.g. trans people) services?

This is who Trump has been his whole life - always scamming, using people as if they are just pawns in his game. He cares nothing about those lives lost, it’s all about him and how their deaths make him look, or how he can count them in a way that benefits him. It’s disgusting.

It’s important to note in this moment that the attacks on the LGBTQ community are global in nature. My heart goes out to the victims at Berlin Pride.

There will be pressures to skip some of that repair and clean up in the interest of moving on. It will be important to insist that we move forward correctly that we do not gloss over some of what was broken. wounds need to be healed and they won’t be healed by pretending they no longer exist

Let’s beat this record in the US

Others have noted that this gigantic march hasn't gotten the level of attention it deserves—so let's amplify the story. This seems like a good writeup from the Independent. "An estimated 150,000 people marched through central London in the world’s largest trans pride event, organisers have said."

This is a very charitable response - I appreciate it because it’s easy to hate on people. But at the same time… the dinner was broadcast widely; millions of people could have made a comment like Jim without physically being there. The commenter should have taken that into account. Lesson learned.

I think very few cis people are truly interested in understanding the issues and finding an equitable solution. Most of them feel like this isn’t their problem, they don’t want to be inconvenienced by it and they’re low-key anti-trans to begin with. A ton of bad faith by a lot of cis people.

In making Troy Jackson their nominee for Senate, Maine Democrats also secured a 30-year deal for Graham Platner to be the winning answer at Tuesday night bar trivia contests.

For folks who don’t live in Maine, Troy Jackson (nominee for Senate) is a former logger and Hanna Pingree (nominee for Governor), is a policy advocate working for families, clean air and water and quality of life issues. This is what politics can be: people trying to make life better for people.

Good journalism performs a public service: it informs, educates, builds understanding, exposes evil… the WHCD accomplishes none of this, and flattering Trump accomplished nothing of journalistic value. This isn’t complicated. The mainstream media like power.

I think one of the biggest failings of journalism is the perpetuation of the myth of unbiasedness. There is no way to “objectively” tell a story. Journalists make choices about what stories to pursue, they make choices about what facts are relevant, a publisher makes a choice about what to publish.
