I was researching a bonehead this last week. The thing that struck me most is that outside of the pose and occasional Bund flair, everything he said in public was not out of the norm for any MAGA adherent. Trump didn’t start this for them; they looked at him and said “Ah. finally.”

There’s another dynamic where Maga voters hear what they want to hear so Trump gets support from people that actually disagree with his specific policies. They latch on to the larger message of I’m going to fix everything and take us back to the good old days, and give it their own interpretation.

Where do you think they learned this? Try at evangelical churches. That is why Christian nationals are the way they are.

I've been trying to explain this to my mom. She's a progressive liberal and really wants to believe that Trump voters were duped and when I try to explain that they were duped because they wanted the hateful stuff or at least were fine with it that doesn't make them innocent.

This is true and I have no interest in excusing that horrendous decision, but it's crucial that we understand WHY they wanted it. It's silly to say-"because millions of Americans are evil." (You didn't say that. I'm just mentioning it because others do say it)

There do appear to have been many voters who were simply confused, having a willfully selective read on Trump and swallowing anti-Dem propaganda. How they could have done that is hard to understand; down deep, I think they liked the Trump message.

For the longest time the term “fiscal conservative” was code that could be used by “centrists.” They never meant it since they’ve no issue with debt for a trillion dollar war machine. It’s code for lowering taxes on the wealthy and taking away programs from those stuck in intergenerational poverty.

That’s why when people say, we should accept them into society and reeducate them, nah the information is all there. They are hateful racists and should be treated as such. They have chosen to be who they are and we should do a lot more than just ostracize them.

Tbf the stronger messaging line only made sense to me due to how many people i meet who have no clue what’s happening in the news or politics. Like they’re not really on social media either or see few things if their fav celebs mention it. But reaching them is whole different strategy

Tried giving my mother grace for years until she blurted out in an argument that only landowners should be able to vote and from that point I realized there was a fundamental problem with her ethics and there was no fixing it. It’s pure brain wiring for most of these folks.
