Also, it is not "fruitless" by any definition of that word. We understand the human psyche much, much better than we did half a century ago, partly because people have invested in answering tough questions about compassion and malice. What's fruitless is to say "they're evil," and walk away.

For example, I'm also curious about why ppl address social media posts to individuals, using the words "you" & "your", despite not knowing the person they're addressing. It's like walking up to a stranger & saying, "You should be ashamed!" What? Why? Who are you?

They are racist. There's not more to it. It's simple if you allow yourself to accept reality. Maj of white Christians voted Republican in every presidential election for over 50 years, since LBJ (D) passed civil rights Majority of every other race/religion voted Democratic every single time

It's not saying that they're evil. It's saying that having made the choices they have that there is no reforming them. I agree on trying to make sure people don't get to that point but once it's done it's done. You don't stop being that kind of Nazi.

Research shows that's true for only a small percentage of people. I don't think anyone is arguing for zero accountability or letting anyone off the hook, but we know that when people accept responsibility, they can sometimes change. And yes, we want to prevent it in the future.

This exactly this. My question is how far are we willing go to induce something that looks like regret. The German people embraced the allies because we bombed their cities flat and they were starving. That isn’t going to work with these fuckers..
