Among the very many dim takes around the Ceuta incident... the very, very dumbest must be the assumption in Reform circles that all those people were somehow trying to make it to Britain. How exceptionalist and indeed exceptionally stupid can you get?

Did the arrows represent four barbers who migrated to the UK legally? And there aren't four men to every three women in Turkey. The ratio is 50/50 to the nearest whole number. Everything in this image is a lie. So I'll bet Reform and die hard brexidiots will still stand by what it says.

Ответ для Tim Hill of Antifa, #FBPE

And where's Malta gone?

Also a reminder of where Ceuta is 🙄

Cui bono from the Ceuta invasion? AfD, Le Pen, Reform/Restore, Vance...anyone pushing the Europe is Being Invaded narrative. Any signs of their backers' money going towards flyers, a What's App campaign, paid agitators, or other means of persuasion suggesting a mass movement to Ceuta that day?

Especially so because the German Home Sec is certain they were all coming to Germany. It's a close race these days between stupid and calculating... 🏁

Let Germany suspend the Schengen Agreement with Spain. In the summer. The government would collapse in a week when people realise they have to queue to get into Palma de Mallorca

CSU 101: Talk tough, look tough, don't worry about making sense. They only closed the land borders, didn't they? And even that was unlawful. And really angered three neighbours.

How exceptionally stupid do you want?

Very reminiscent of the utterly cynical 'If Turkey joins the EU, 70 million Turks will come to the U.K.' scaremongering in 2016.

Doubt it - housing shortage

Free benefits... free cars... free phones... free houses... free healthcare... white teenagers... its called GREAT Britain for a reason you know! 🤣🤣🤣

Or the trump cult thinking this might happen in US...?!

The government un Morocco spent $16bn in staging the 2025 ⚽️ African Cup and is dishing out another $21bn in organising one third of the 2030 #FIFA World Cup, and yet, tens of thousands of young people are so desperate with living conditions in Morocco that they risk drawing at sea to reach Spain...

Well they do luv the uneducated

it's all part of a drive to cause societal discord. Russia flew asylum seekers from the middle east to minsk and then pushed them into Poland, Lithuania & Latvia to create political chaos.

GylesNaMopaleen

they are playing with people's hopes & lives. this kid swam to Spain because of fake news being spread deliberately online suggesting Spain had opened their doors. the expression on his face says it all.

30p Lee level of stupidity.

And the "news" outlets implying that they somehow left Africa and reached Spain should be ashamed of themselves.

They know full well that they're not trying to come to the UK (nor are 80million Turks - remember?) It's a distraction from their own sleaze.

If your name's Bobby Jenrick fucking miles to go yet!

They’re all heading here for our Disney murals. We must paint over them immediately.

What Ed said.

Their claims have exactly the same status as the infamous advert claiming millions of Turkish people were about to "invade" the UK. Racist lies deliberately concocted to drum up votes from the fearful & gullible.

Ответ для Rob Baron

That's the one that Farage says he was right about, in his new video claiming all the migrants in Ceuta are heading for UK.

Oh goody, something to take attention away from Farage and his dodgy financial shenanigans.

There's stupid, then there's Reform/Brexit stupid which is the stupidest stupid of all the stupid stupids.

Farage doesn’t care if they come here or not, he just needs to make voters thinks they’ll come. He sells fear, that’s it.

If they have any sense Britain would be the last place they’d want to come! Thanks to Farages hare speeches to the hard of thinking!

It's pathetic. Ceuta isn't even mainland Spain, so there's really no way anyone arriving there can get to the UK. There's even an official 'Schengen carve-out' which means people need to show EU ID to pass from Ceuta to Spain.

I'll tell you what DUMB is. The usual rags such as the The Daily Express ,the Sun and the Daily Mail. 'Oh,we're going to be invaded now.' Those reporters really are the dumbest dregs of society,an abomination in fact.

Ответ для Tom Dollar

Dumb racism is Reform's USP.

Not sure why you'd doubt Reform's genuine concerns that all these French speaking people, mostly from Guinea in French speaking sub Saharan Africa, aren't desperately trying to get to monoglot English speaking England via French speaking France.

Why does Spain hang on to it ?

Ответ для ross thomas

Same reason we hang on to Gibraltar. History.

There's stupid, then there's The Stupids, then there's Reform Stupid Somewhere after all that exists, I suspect, Zia Yusuf

Imagine as a refugee arriving in a country where you can speak their language (french) and thinking to yourself, "you know what? I think I'll make another crossing across a dangerous channel to a country where I can't speak a word of their language!"

Stupid enough to vote Reform at least

Reform's strategy seems to be - make the UK so shit no one would want to come.

Unfortunately, the reality is worse...Braverman and Jenrick know full well that they're spouting bollocks but they know that their audience at home and in America don't care about tiresome things like facts

England is not, and never has been, an island.

Spain has one of Europe's fastest growing economies and a falling rate of unemployment, so obviously all those coming in from Morocco would want to bypass it and head for the hellhole that the right tells us the UK has become.

Ответ для JWexTheSpa

When Merkel accepted refugees in 2015, I remember a discussion on LBC about how they would quickly gain German passports and move to the UK.

Ответ для Frédéric Moreau

Yep - as if people would spend 10 years in Europe's biggest economy, learn German, get a German passport and then throw all that away to go to the UK. It was ridiculous but I am pretty sure it played a big part in the Brexit vote.

Ответ для JWexTheSpa

There's also an element of 'I mean, who would want to live in Germany?' Farage repeatedly warned that 500m could move to the UK tomorrow.

Ответ для Frédéric Moreau

We hear Farage tried to get a german passport !

Ответ для Frédéric Moreau

I always joke when people in Germany ask me how I ended up living here instead of in Spain when they presume I'm Spanish: "not a difficult decision after spending six years in the UK" 😇

Ответ для Frédéric Moreau

Especially somebody with a German ex-wife and German offspring...

Ответ для JWexTheSpa

In the end, we’re talking about people who have a xenophobia button that anyone can press at any time. It doesn’t have to make sense.

Ответ для JWexTheSpa

Unemployment, particularly among young people, is much worse in Spain than it is in the UK.

Ответ для JWexTheSpa

The unemployment rate in Spain is 10%. A third of Morrocans are estimated to speak French vs only a 10th English and even less Spanish. It's really hard to get a job if you can't speak the local language. My guess would be most would look to France, where there are 1.3 million Morroco-heritage folk.

Ответ для Sandy Hendry

Moroccans are the largest immigrant group in Spain. There are over a million living there, nearly as many as in France.

They're just reading the script given them by the organisers of this "fighting age male invasion" performance, which has American crassness written all over it.

Ответ для Sam Coleridge

But where did 'fighting age men' come from? Is it a right-wing expression that grew legs?

Ответ для Alison Flower

It's used frequently in Britain by the right to imply that immigrants are not bona fide refugees, but soldiers in a secret invading army viz. Great Replacement Theory. Many of the Cueta flash mob were that demographic, but I see evidence of it being a political stunt.

It's intentionally stupid. Pretty much nobody (including me) had ever heard of Ceuta, or where it actually is, before. All people see is "60,000 invade Spain". Read the caption under the photo in this BBC piece: "out of Spain". Factually correct, utterly misleading. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Not necessarily THAT dumb. They're trying to make political capital out of it. I wonder what the response would be if all those migrants were landing in the outer Hebrides having fled a Scandinavian country and were all fair skinned blonde and female?

They most likely knew in advance that this event was going to happen and already had their takes Trump “ If I wasn’t in charge the same would be happening here” only hours after the event,if I was a betting man I would think this was a far right coordinated event.

They probably knew and didn't care so long as they could stoke the numpties who'd vote for them.

Ceuta is what happens when you’re not serious about migrationUrsula von der Leyen doesn’t seem to care about the tide of people rushing the Spanish border. Voters in Britain willwww.thetimes.com

None of the people who arrived in Ceuta have left Africa, never mind reaching Britain. Most of them have now left Ceuta, and returned to Morocco. 57 people have died. The whole incident was created by bad actors spreading misinformation online, something that Reform has constantly done itself

I don't think we have plumbed the depths of their stupidity yet.

I heard every single one of them was promised a three bedroom semi in Basingstoke

I'll wait for some investigation of what happened. The "it was the mafia misunderstanding a court ruling" doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

It’s not dumb; it is pure unadulterated racism attempting to poison people’s minds against others #Reform #Farage

Even more blindingly stupid is the propensity of the mainstream media to give these charlatans a platform for propaganda. Scrutiny is a forgotten word when interviewing Reform.

Yes, that's the take on 90% of the comments on the Mail's stories... The Mail of course didn't report most had gone back to Morocco. but that's the point: the right and its supporting social media and tabloids are set up to use anything to keep their supporters angry at migrants

Plus of course that the people involved “invaded Europe”. They didn’t, they were still in Africa and in addition Ceuta is outside Schengen.

I crossed the Ceuta / Morocco border on foot back in 1983. I’m still waiting for my free mobile phone, free driving lessons, free council house, and £50K to set up a business. Bastards!

D

its all they have .

But weave the notion of human rights into it, invoke the breaking point image & their “we must leave the ECHR or this will be us” argument is made. It doesn’t matter that they had no rights to stay & most have now returned… honesty & integrity have never bothered them.

That's often the impression that's given. In reality, the UK was only the 11th most popular destination in 2025. Both Italy and Spain received far more asylum-seekers than the UK while Germany received more than twice as many.

Ответ для Bob Medley

Whisht with your facts! 😉

Given the language and existing communities I'm of the understanding that most Moroccans cite Spain, France or Belgium as their destinations when questioned by the press and agencies for what that's worth. I can see the appeal and easier route with an existing community for sure

Very exceptionalist and very, very exceptionally stupid.

In fact, one city saw more refugees arrive in a single day than Britain has received by small boats in two years, w/o any hysteria caused. A genuine crisis for Spain and Morocco, yet largely de-escalated within 24 hours—long before Reform's goons and Trump started getting all worked up over it.

Why do they think they're coming to Britain, the Mail's front pages reports that Tories and Refuk demand Burnham responds. What is he supposed to respond to? They didn't even get into mainland Spain and why is everything a demand?

The Ceuta situation needs to be explained to allay folks' fears. That fagash covered soapbox shouldn't be the only source of a commentary (sadly I include the BBC in that category)

😂 who’d want to come here unless it’s to help Reformers paint George Crosses on roundabouts

It is like during the Brexit campaign, they said, Turkey would join the EU (which was not true) and all these tricks would come to the UK, which of course was nonsense all along.

But Zia Yusuf interviewed them & he said 95% had told him they were definitely coming to UK. It's almost as if he may not have been entirely truthful again.

Self-contradiction, hypocrisy, outright lies—none of these matter to an ideologue. Most of what they say is not actually a belief or even a claim. They have a pre-existing argument they want to make. Anything that can be made an example of, they use just as long as it's useful, and then walk away.

I glanced at the front pages in the newspaper rack at an M&S this morning; yup, that's the hysterical line they're taking...

That is a really saliant point, btw. I am unclear if you include me as a white person. Some people wouldn't. 1930s Germany would. But they wouldn't think that of my father, despite a near identical heritage. This dangerous ideology of terrorists that you follow can never decide. But it is just yr BS

Something about turkeys voting for Christmas

Suella Braverman is the most vocal white supremacists in the United Kingdom followed by Kemi Badenoch & Priti Patel. Their anti black & Muslim stances are far more advanced than any White Male Supremacist. Each morning as they look in the mirror each one is broken hearted to see black person

I've spent time in circles adjacent to these politital blanks. We need to understand that for some, money and power trumps race. They believe in nothing. They flutter in the political breeze, waiting for the most lucrative opportunity. Truss is the prime example of this.

Is this billion in the room with her now? One twelfth of the world population heading to the UK is quite a feat

Having been in amongst many a 60,000 football crowd there's nothing to suggest from the newsreels that that number entered Ceuta, nowhere near irt.

Ответ для William Humphrey

Yup, and as the Spanish PM has said, the vast majority went back. It's just another iteration of Farridges breaking point billboard that lead to the murder of Jo Cox.

The flag waving simpletons are now organising like muthefeckas....chuckles.

There's no bottom to the barrel.

80 million Turks stupid.

It's on a par with the entire population of Turkey rocking up at Dover if Turkey joined the EU

You answered your own question - they vote reform.

Meloni hasn't helped. Ceuta isn't in Schengen.

They have to find source of rumour that Spain was having amnesty for asylum seekers. It is more than likely it has come from the far right because it feeds their narrative. Elon Musk is my first bet but could be somebody in Trump's enclave. We will have more of this from them as they lose support.

Very

I think a very large proportion of those outraged by this don't even know where Cueta is, basically in Morocco. These migrants have little chance of making it to mainland Spain let alone the UK. So that's history, science and now geography that these potatoes can add to their list of not knowing.

It works for them 🤷‍♂️

Oh they knew, but took it as an opportunity to sow chaos and bait the gammons.

And people believe it, egged on by the likes of the Express and Fartage himself, of course. He has even produced a video saying he was right about that famous 'they're all coming to UK' poster in 2016 🤦‍♀️ I've spent hours explaining, but "of course they'll come to UK, they all do" is the response.

Ali Miraj on LBC this morning claiming 50k a year are crossing the channel.

We complain about social media but much of the misinformation and radicalisation is happening through these radio shows. They know how to stay just the right side of regulations.

That poster made me gasp; I recognised the reference. There is nothing redeemable about that individual!

The grifters are grifting.

Whips up fear and anger in the base. That's all that counts for these ghouls. And Giorgia Meloni playing silly games with the Schengen suspension.

Next time there’s an incident at Lampedusa Meloni will of course be fine with restrictions being put in place for Italian travellers…

Is ‘honest’ Bob Jenrick the correct answer?

This! Reform’s dishonest exceptionalism and utter misunderstanding of history continues to defy rational explanations. They are self-serving idiots of the worst kind.

I'm sure the newspaper editors know full well that Cueta is on the African continent, a long way from Europe, but if they channel it into an "invasion" threat that might aid the loonies in Reform UK, which they all back.

Putting aside the dishonesty here what is she suggesting needs to be done differently? The land border wasn't breached. The Spanish government didn't make them welcome. What's the apparent policy mistake that only Reform can rectify? Because otherwise it just looks like she hates that Africans exist

Reform confuse me, they never shut up whining about how shit they think Britain is but at the same time think everybody else in the world wants to come here.

Dumb? Having seen previous migration scare stories, I don’t think that the people hyping such stories are dumb enough to believe them. Like the pre-Brexit targeted Facebook ads claiming Turkey would to join the EU & its population would relocate en masse to the UK, this is cynical disinformation.

I will never hear a bad word said about Ian McShane since he came up with this gem. Hang it in the Louvre.

Someone has to tell Mail readers what distant dark people to fear.

Orchestrated l wonder who would do such a thing 🤷🏼‍♀️ We don’t need two guesses do we?

Have had that chat many times. People know so little about how many refugees there are in EU countries. That the UK is, fairly obviously due to geography, almost the last place to get to.

Ответ для Alastair Somerville

And people drown in the channel after paying gangs large sums. They are pretty desperate if they come to the UK.

Ответ для Alastair Somerville

I find it odd how many people on both sides of the argument still think that asylum seekers had to apply in the first safe country according to the Dublin Agreement. I mean, how many hit the UK as that first country?

He has #cojones and dignity

Most Deformists wont know where Ceuta is. Or perhaps ..... Great Yarmouth and Clacton will be invaded?

Surprised no one as yet has said this is Dover right now and AI’d Brighton pier in the background

They never fail to live up to expectations.

Just as long as British tourists can carry on with their duty free shopping day trips to Ceuta.

Not hard to imagine that the Ceuta incident will turn out to be some stupid social media mass gathering event like the young people are prone to these days. Bored, online looking for excitement All back now, aren't they? But then the optics are perfectly created for the far right fear machine.

"....How exceptionalist and indeed exceptionally stupid can you get?...." For the ignorati, easily.
