Among the very many dim takes around the Ceuta incident... the very, very dumbest must be the assumption in Reform circles that all those people were somehow trying to make it to Britain. How exceptionalist and indeed exceptionally stupid can you get?

The government un Morocco spent $16bn in staging the 2025 ⚽️ African Cup and is dishing out another $21bn in organising one third of the 2030 #FIFA World Cup, and yet, tens of thousands of young people are so desperate with living conditions in Morocco that they risk drawing at sea to reach Spain...
it's all part of a drive to cause societal discord. Russia flew asylum seekers from the middle east to minsk and then pushed them into Poland, Lithuania & Latvia to create political chaos.
GylesNaMopaleenthey are playing with people's hopes & lives. this kid swam to Spain because of fake news being spread deliberately online suggesting Spain had opened their doors. the expression on his face says it all.

The unemployment rate in Spain is 10%. A third of Morrocans are estimated to speak French vs only a 10th English and even less Spanish. It's really hard to get a job if you can't speak the local language. My guess would be most would look to France, where there are 1.3 million Morroco-heritage folk.
It's intentionally stupid. Pretty much nobody (including me) had ever heard of Ceuta, or where it actually is, before. All people see is "60,000 invade Spain". Read the caption under the photo in this BBC piece: "out of Spain". Factually correct, utterly misleading. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Check out Camilla Long in tomorrow’s Sunday Times Ceuta is what happens when you’re not serious about migration www.thetimes.com/article/7848...

A genuine crisis - and one with 67 deaths. That's quite a tragedy. And a bit of a repeat of 2021? www.kosu.org/news/2026-08...

Golareh KhalilpourAmong the 57 people confirmed dead so far, was also her. #ceuta I’m sure few (on here at least) need a reminder that those statistical numbers represent persons with names, loved ones, a history, hopes for their future, and, most important of all, dignity. I wish the other side understood this too.
That is a really saliant point, btw. I am unclear if you include me as a white person. Some people wouldn't. 1930s Germany would. But they wouldn't think that of my father, despite a near identical heritage. This dangerous ideology of terrorists that you follow can never decide. But it is just yr BS
Putting aside the dishonesty here what is she suggesting needs to be done differently? The land border wasn't breached. The Spanish government didn't make them welcome. What's the apparent policy mistake that only Reform can rectify? Because otherwise it just looks like she hates that Africans exist
