Wide range of interest from science and technology throughout to politics, current affairs and sport. Re-tweets are not necessarily endorsements. Due to previous experience on the Twitter/X I don't do DMs, so apologies if I don't reply to them.

France24 is saying 34 dead, so the 49 I quoted may be an exaggeration, as I can't find my original source. France24 and BBC reporting 25000 have voluntarily returned to Morocco already, which seems to justify my description of "stunt". Shame on the organisers of this, these deaths are on their heads

I think part of the reason for this massive influx is political. Normally we would expect to see a much lower daily arrival. Yesterday's influx looks orchestrated. It bears comparison to the 1975 Green March, and ties in with Trump's "invading Europe" rant. Sadly,49 people died during this "stunt"

I know very well where Ceuta is. I have been there, have you? It is on the North African coast and is ( at least currently) part of Spain. It has a short ferry link to Algeciras.

It also bears some resemblance to Morocco's annexation of Western Sahara. If you will remember, Hassan II organised a mass influx of about 350000 Moroccan civilians into the territory while Spain was still trying to arrange an orderly handover and withdrawal.

Immigration in itself is not a punishment, but does need controls so that local resources are not overstretched and that refugees can be treated with dignity and fairness. It is many years since I was last in Ceuta but a single large influx like this will overwhelm available support

This has also really piqued my ire. He stood to lead a council and won. His council made bad choices that the public dislikes. His response? Shut down the criticism and call the cops. That’s not how democracy works. This is Britain’s future under Reform.

Algeria and Morocco have been at odds with each other for decades, particularly over Western Sahara, where Algeria supported Polisario in the years immediately following Morocco's invasion and annexation after the Spanish withdrawal

Has this incident been engineered by USA-Morocco to undermine Sanchez and promote Trump's racist snti-immigration policies? Putin and Lukashenko tried something similar at the EU's Polish border a few years ago.

Also ties in nicely with Trump's rants on migrants invading Europe. This reminds me of the situation a few years ago where migrants were shipped to the border between Belarus and Poland and encouraged to push through. It was attributed to Putin and Lukashenko.

Glad I am not the only one who thinks this. Morocco and the USA have quite a close relationship. Yesterday's incursion looked coordinated, similar to previous organised flows of migrants across the EU-Belarus border.

A reminder that Dr. Anthony Fauci is the recipient of a Presidential Medal of Freedom before it was trashed up by MAGA, the National Medal of Science and many honorary degrees. He has over 5 decades of public service and has advised 7 Presidents. The orange felon has 34 felonies.
