Tbh, I wouldn't be motivated to vote in an election that offers me 99% joke candidates. How are people to believe in democracy again, that it works for them, that they can trust the traditional parties? This election is not going to enthuse them, is it? If I was a resident, I'd be peeved.

In 2024, 46% of a 59% turnout elected Farage. That's 27% of the electorate. I think we need to come away from 'Clacton deserves this'.

40 yrs ago, many thought we had plenty of time to 'fix' the greenhouse effect & avoid disaster scenarios, so they might as well carry on. Today, they see climate change & disaster scenarios, & realise they left it too late, so they might as well carry on. Hoping for a miracle, this time.

True. There's no shortage of parking in walking distance, but that, too, is an inconvenience (as is getting into the car, moving it into the street, getting out of the car, & pulling the rubbish bin out to the curb - but they've no problem with that. 😁)

Must be. There's no rational reason. None of the people concerned have difficulty walking or care for others. Our bins are emptied with flawless regularity & never overfill. This is the 'mine, mine, mine' mindset. Bugs me every single time. (I do try to ignore it, but it's hard.)

The journalists rarely write their own headlines or social media texts. This headline is clearly designed to generate anger and with it, comments and retweets.

In our street, people use their rubbish bins to reserve parking in front of their houses (it's a cul-de-sac, there's zero parking from non-residents). And they guard them jealously so no neighbour can use them (I'm not talking about filling them up). People really do hate to share, don't they? Nuts.
