South West England via Spain and the Midlands - but made in NW5. Trying hard not to give in to despair

I know it’s temporary and largely meaningless, but I’m enjoying it. A lot. That Tory -3 😏

If 50,000 entered Ceuta from Morocco and 49,000 have now returned, that's over 90%. So it's a much better story if you take the Spanish right's fictitious 60,000 number. That way you can say over 10,000 are still there. It's dishonest and dancing to the right's tune, but it get clicks. So job done.

The BBC taking the 60,000 number provided by the Spanish right rather than the 50,000 number provided by the Spanish government is an editorial choice

Deliberate misinformation designed to produce an outcome that would discredit the Spanish government. The deaths mean absolutely nothing to the scumbags playing such geopolitical games.

Sally Davies

Sixty-seven people have died as a result of a campaign of misinformation on social media. That's the story here.

The Spanish government said 49,800 people entered Ceuta from Morocco, the far-right Vox party said it was 60,000. Guess which number most of the press and broadcast media have gone with.

One final observation from my clueless watching of the two GAA finals - the footballers look much younger than the hurlers.

Why split? I wish I'd had more vocational training at school. Knowing my way round a car engine, a leaking pipe and an electronic circuit would have been a huge help to me over the last 40 years!

Sam Freedman

New post just out: "Burnham's first mistake" Splitting 14 year olds into academic and vocational paths seems intuitive. But it's a terrible idea that risks increasing inequality, and closing down options for the young people that need them most. (£/free trial) open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/b...

Beware complacency, nothing is decided. Burnham is having a honeymoon, but the economic fundamentals remain the same: bad. And remember this: the only thing preventing the right uniting is personal animosity. That can be buried for power. On policy, the Tories and Reform basically speak as one.
