But also, like blackouts arent new? We've had them during 100% fossil fuel powered periods. Insane.

Complete nonsense that they can’t model the supply and demand of energy because decentralized renewable production. Every solar panel or home battery communicates its status to the grid operator and the weather is more predictable than mining induced earthquakes or Strait of Hormuz blockades.

Well said. I started reading “Not the End of the World” by Hannah Ritchie and what strikes me is how she glosses over the political and corporate opposition to changes that would save humanity and the planet.

Being 100% dependent on ELECTRIC heating, cooking, hot water & air cond, I have domestic solar and battery PRECISELY so I a) power bills drop over 90% and b) I have power during any blackout, which are never due to solar or wind lack; but storms taking out distribution infrastructure.

Very weird one of the by lines is a columnist. I worked with her once at the start of her career. She turned up unannounced with no experience, spouting right wing propaganda. Never understood who she was or where she came from. Her wikipedia page seems to have vanished too.

Even if the change to renewables did cause the occasional backout (which it won't) it would be worth it to prevent the climate crisis getting even worse.

The article had me thinking that the report really revealed that Neso had failed to do the work to prepare the grid for the government’s policies. Where I live there have been multiple solar and battery projects approved and only now is the Grid applying for the local substation to be upgraded.

There's still a blindness to the issue, even while the world is quite literally burning around us. It'll be inconvenient or expensive to tackle, so let's not do it, seems to be a common response, if it's not outright denial.
