I went to see Arcadia by Tom Stoppard this evening. And it's glorious on lots of levels. One thing it made me aware of is how we've lost a lot of that culture of lively cultural criticism. And it could be spectacularly bitchy (the play doesn't shy away from that), but still it's a loss.

In that case cheesecake. Personally I prefer cheesecake over bubble tea in any case but I was trying not to let personal prejudices get in the way.

There's a very good Croatian cake made with carob flour, which bears no resemblance to the egregious hippy fake chocolate. But good luck finding it unless you're friends with Croats who like to bake.

They also don't really have a food culture. Dumplings are a lot of fuss and effort if you're not interested in food.

I think I currently live in one of the only countries that doesn't have one.
