The story is that the amount of investment in green energy projects from China to the rest of the world is growing really really fast esp this year as strait of Hormuz mostly closed for the foreseeable future

"The two-month fuel discount from May to June cost the federal government – i.e. the taxpayers – 1.6 billion euros. This is a lot of money, especially in the stagnation phase in which the German economy is located." #tankrabatt #alwaysbecharging www.handelsblatt.com/meinung/komm...
This narrative about blackouts is being pushed hard by gas lobbyists (albeit may be a couple of dinosaurs who work at Nat Grid feeding them ammo) Gas generators make huge profits from inertia & other services; now they are pushed out by much cheaper batteries (which are an adequate replacement)
Ben RobinsCan't see increased tax on gas, it will give the gas lobby a lever. Key thing is less gas as elec source It's why the likes of Coutinho, Porter etc. now make waves about system stability & Reform oppose batteries. They know once gas is gone for extended periods, prices drop sharply & the jig is up
Its' not just the media, like all the fuss about the air conditioning this narrative about risk of blackouts is not organic, it's being pushed by lobbyists

It's an NH90 helicopter, the pictures look like Italian navy The mission is led under an EU operation, but the naval forces will be provided by various participating EU states
Kaja KallasIn parallel, Member States this week have authorised Operation @EUNAVFOR ATALANTA to begin conducting flag verification boardings of suspected Russian shadow fleet vessels, in the same way Operation IRINI does. This decision further tightens the net. (3/3)
With 57% of its electricity now coming from renewables, including 22% from solar & 21% from wind, Spain built one of Europe's most impressive electricity systems. Solar is now the country's fastest-growing source of power & has helped drive some of the lowest wholesale electricity prices in Europe.
Gas generators are starting to loose very lucrative balancing revenue to much cheaper batteries. They are terrified that once it's forced out, consumers will see clearly that gas has been responsible for high electricity prices. So they spread FUD about bogus risks to system stability.

To my happy surprise Miatta Fahnbulleh seems an excellent choice to replace Miliband as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. "Fahnbulleh has pushed hard for serious action on the climate crisis and has advocated more urgency in the UK’s response" 👍👍
