Energy and transitioning from fossil fuels. Complex issues I try to shine a light on. Ex-UKAEA and Met Office, now working in community energy. Occasionally politics Exeter, UK

Key point: climate change is caused by burning fossil fuels. It's burning fossil fuels that is making heat waves hotter and more frequent. We need to stop burning fossil fuels (and that includes leaving them in the ground)

The missing words in the climate conversation are not human-caused climate change, but fossil fuel emissions. By Hayley Fowler and myself: theconversation.com/was-this-hea...

As an EV driver I do sympathise with people who can't afford or can't charge an electric car. But for people who live in the 70% of homes with private off-road parking and have bought a new petrol or diesel car in the last 5 years or so... What were you thinking?

Saturday once again looking like the best day to charge the car (via the excellent agilerates.uk?region=L website) Even if you're not on the Octopus Agile tariff, please consider delaying any charging, laundry etc to lunchtime Saturday to support solar power!

Saturday, or as I now call it charging the car and doing the weekly washing day

Ed is getting down to business. But will the zero-emission vehicle mandate – the future biggest single driver for reducing the UK's emissions – still be watered down, as the Unite union wants?

Worth bearing in mind that it's 15 years since the government rejected a new strategic reservoir for the southeast (near Oxford). They claimed Thames Water hadn't made the case for it (to me it looked like they had) Interestingly Thames Water now say it needs to be 50% bigger than what was proposed

This is the reply the BBC are sending to people who complained about Kuenssberg's interview with Badenoch. They kind of admit that they messed up, but "it happens". Wholly inadequate and I have submitted a follow-up complaint

Dan Grey

Badenoch just said, on national TV, that UK's carbon emissions have gone up "in total" because of the 2008 Climate Change Act. They have, in fact, declined by more than half. Did #Kuenssberg break in to point this basic fact out? Of course not
