What about the Rivalry Week that regularly leaves out an established rivalry because the fans refused to give the trademark to the league? (Rocky Mountain Cup has been overlooked and devalued starting the year after MLS trademarked all the rivalry cups only to find out we had already filed one)

I know this is the standard joke but I seriously hate how terribly the league fumbled the Columbus Chicago rivalry after the 08 playoffs. There was already history with Open Cup stuff and whatever else, but that was the peak, and they just didn’t care.

I don’t disagree, but the very next season there was nothing. Just another game, nothing to see here. For me the McBride two stick alone should have gotten mileage and the league hasn’t used it for story telling purposes once.

The games are bad, but they at least tried rivalry games with the two Eastern Canadian teams and Missouri teams, but unfoetunately these are not good teams amd they don't play exciting soccer.

Joz here, I left the MLS after 15 seasons of dedicated viewership. It was apparent they didn’t care about the league, so I didn’t figure it was worth my time either. I switched to the NWSL. That league has ambition and a great fan base.

Nobody on Spain’s team is in MLS. I don’t know MLS policies, but many leagues have policies around giving a certain amount of break to players. So LaLiga, for instance, has started training, and first matches are mid-August. But players who went deep in World Cup won’t join for some time.

A lot of the NASL players who came in the 70:s to play in Portland and Seattle stayed and grew the game in the NW through youth clubs, and coaching at high school and college level.

I remember the Chicago Sting being really popular for a very short period of time as a kid. Then soccer died around here. The Fire are popular w/ the Hispanic community but not much beyond that.
