Is there a reason soccer is so much popular on the NW than other parts if the country? I get Portland because it’s only 1 pro franchise

A lot of the NASL players who came in the 70:s to play in Portland and Seattle stayed and grew the game in the NW through youth clubs, and coaching at high school and college level.

I remember the Chicago Sting being really popular for a very short period of time as a kid. Then soccer died around here. The Fire are popular w/ the Hispanic community but not much beyond that.
