Rent controls help people who are already renting, but they reduce housing supply. It depends on how strict you are on increases, and what landlords are allowed to charge new renters, which could be much higher to account for rent increase caps.

Where I live is rent controlled. Anything under x points means landlords can’t charge very much at all. Their profits are also charged higher than normal income tax too. I live in NL so maybe Frankie Burnham can have a word?
