This isn’t even the first time Atari has tried to adapt Breakout into a full story with actual characters

I want Atari to make a movie about the time Atari almost made a movie about Atari. It's time to bring this story to the big screen.

The Yar's Revenge LP record had music and an audio story that dramatised the game, and it was actually a banger for 7 year old me. Could easily make that a kids film. If not go all gritty reboot for a PG-13 story...

But why? Are the Asteroids fans truly and really crazing a movie?

My guess is that Universal only wanted a few and Atari wrangled them into buying all 10 for more cash. I could be wrong. Universal could actually be this stupid.

We already had Asteroids in the 90s. They were called "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon."

...out of all of these, I can honestly really only see "Centipede/Millipede" becoming a thing. There's enough horror potential there to drive an "Aliens"-type humans fighting giant horrifying bugs B-movie flick.

The only one that has actual material to adapt is yars revenge

Ok, so do i need to watch Centipede before I watch Millipede?

Most of these games have killer cartridge art that, much like the B-movies of the 80s and 90s, could be spun out into entire movies...probably with similar results at the box office.

The biggest recent success that tapped into video game nostalgia was Deltarune Chapter 5 referencing Chapter 1. When Chapter 1 first released in 2018, Atari game nostalgia had already become passé and corny.

Out of all of these I think Yars' is the only one with any sort of actual story to it. It could easily be a middling movie, but I don't feel like the nostalgia of the name is enough to carry something like that.

Sweet! Universal must seen when Masters of the Universe came out and did those huge numbers with the 52 year old audience a few weeks ago. Good job getting this deal inked! Hope they can get a deal for a Tomba movie in about 10 years!
