Totally agree. I don't think we fully have the language to discuss how technology is interacting with our brains. Not just on a basic level, but also within the pressure cooker that is customized content that will deliver global horrors or personalized sycophancy to us on demand 24/7/365.
Jill WeinbergerI've felt for a while that we need a lot of study & maybe eventually new language for a whole host of toxic dependencies that may not fit the exact chemical/medical definition of addiction but are still dangerous, potentially life-wrecking problems that may need treatment to address.

A thing I’ve always found useful in discussion with Canadian folk who like to over-focus on "but it’s something like 1% of the population!" when talking about any group of people is to point out Canada isn’t even 1% of the world’s population, but they'd never suggest tossing aside, y’know, Canada.

this is where I currently stand. this well has been poisoned. I agree that I would like an unpoisoned well, but you can not convince me that I need to drink from the poisoned well just because I agree that water is important.
