Feta got a trip to the vet today to check out her BONES because she sometimes seems a little sore after swim time. All her bones look great, though. Still no explanation for her tiny head, though!
This looks fun! Spooky books must be shared!

Totally agree. I don't think we fully have the language to discuss how technology is interacting with our brains. Not just on a basic level, but also within the pressure cooker that is customized content that will deliver global horrors or personalized sycophancy to us on demand 24/7/365.
Jill WeinbergerI've felt for a while that we need a lot of study & maybe eventually new language for a whole host of toxic dependencies that may not fit the exact chemical/medical definition of addiction but are still dangerous, potentially life-wrecking problems that may need treatment to address.
A thing I’ve always found useful in discussion with Canadian folk who like to over-focus on "but it’s something like 1% of the population!" when talking about any group of people is to point out Canada isn’t even 1% of the world’s population, but they'd never suggest tossing aside, y’know, Canada.
Somebody DO something!!!!!!!!
Saeed JonesDo y’all understand this means that next month is SEPTEMBER???????
I have long COVID. My dad has severe long COVID. You don't want this. Mask up. It's like safe sex with your breath.
Adam P KnaveEvery con, doubly and triply so the big ones, I hate watching COVID rip through them, but c'mon y'all. Mask up. It didn't go away. Long covid is still al thing. We don't HAVE to have super spreader cons. We don't. It's a choice, now.
this is where I currently stand. this well has been poisoned. I agree that I would like an unpoisoned well, but you can not convince me that I need to drink from the poisoned well just because I agree that water is important.
vortex_eggRejecting LLMs isn’t about rejecting their utility or failing to be aware of their power —it’s about rejecting that political project; born out of an awareness that any use of these machines at all promulgates that project and assembles me into adjacent responsibility for its commission.
I hate that what might slow all this down is legal ramifications instead of people looking around and saying, "WTF are we *doing*?!" but then there's voluminous precedent for this very thing.
goooood morning it is breezy and cool and very pleasant - and we took a nice long loop around the neighborhood, sharing our snacks with crows and visiting friends so yes, of course: Lucy Loved That Walk
Saturday morning routine is Axel and me in “our” chair (I am not allowed to sit in it without him) while I drink morning tea. It’s the best. My knee is perfect for him to rest his weary snoot.
Me: oh, what a cute picture of Brody Frankie: muther i swear vengeance upon seven generations of your line
Please stop what you're doing and admire this most bestest and happiest doggo:
