Wow, we got them fired up! They’ve actually done two Editorial Board OpEds in the past month. One on June 30 and another today. How many pieces of legislation get two OpEds! I feel honored.

DC statehood, proportional representation/MMD, court reform, national campaign of reconstruction and deterrence to prevent anyone from ever trying this kind of garbage again

Klein asks Allen what liberals should prioritize if they win the trifecta in 2028. Allen suggests the following: 1) Putting an end to Citizens United; 2) Creation of national service; 3) Ending gerrymandering

It's tunnel vision to focus on MHA generating funds for affordable housing. It can! But it comes at the cost of raising rents for everyone else. Because no housing gets built until the worsening shortage pushes up rents high enough to offset the MHA fee. And that hits lower-income renters hardest.

Seattle walks back plan to lower fees funding affordable housingDays before a deal to lower developer fees that fund affordable housing was expected to be released to the public, City Hall is backing away from the idea.www.seattletimes.com

We are disappointed to see this worthwhile proposal fed to the insatiable maw of the Seattle Process. 🧵

Erica C. Barnett

BREAKING: A deal that would have given housing developers a partial holiday on mandatory affordable housing fees has fallen through. The agreement, brokered between private-market developers, affordable housing developers, and the mayor's office, was supposed to culminate in legislation on Monday.

Schrödinger’s SEPA appeal: filed so rarely as to be unworthy of attention and reform, and yet the city's last bulwark against turning Seattle into a treeless hellscape at the same time.

A sleight of hand that the Seattle Times Editorial Board does in its column today: downplay the impact of SEPA appeals, and yet fail to actually articulate what if any "legitimate problems" have been sorted out by the appeals that have been successful.

Yesterday we talked to neighbors in north Seattle about @ronpdavis.bsky.social and @niluj.bsky.social about housing affordability, fully funding our public transportation network, righting our broken regressive tax code, and fighting back against the Trump administration. Join us next time!

"What's more regressive than a sales tax? It's cuts to public transit. What's regressive is not being able to count on the bus that gets you to your low-wage job every morning. What is regressive is having to wait half an hour for the bus that's going to get you home to your kids every evening."

Seattle is about to get screwed. King County Council is proposing to increase our sales tax and send it to wealthy suburbs that don’t want to pay for their own road building. It will soak Seattle for $3 million a year, in perpetuity, to maintain roads in Medina and Bellevue. Ask for a fair deal 👇🏻

Seattle Streets Alliance

Should Seattle sales tax be increased to subsidize wealthy suburban road building? No! But that's what the King County Council is proposing to do this Friday. Tell them to treat Seattle fairly, and not siphon $3 million sales tax for Bellevue etc. Take action now! actionnetwork.org/letters/8415...

As those delays themselves are a “decision” - a decision to delay and to pursue the path of inaction and status quo over action. And inaction can be just as harmful or even more harmful than action, particularly when we are trying to correct the harms of prior bad decisions.
