while we're doing "odyssey adaptations," this book slaps (in part because the whole point is that there can be no "true" version of the story, everything is adaptation and variation) us.macmillan.com/books/978031...

serious question: as a technical matter, is this an impoundment?
Yonah FreemarkCongress appropriated billions of dollars for new transit projects. Why is the Trump administration spending none of it? Why are even transit projects in red states going unfounded? New reporting in @nytimes.com (gift link): www.nytimes.com/2026/07/27/u...
67 boat strikes 221 people killed EXCLUSIVE: Operation Southern Spear has not reduced the volume, availability, purity or price of cocaine arriving in the U.S., according to an internal DEA assessment and a closed-door Pentagon briefing for senators, and has made enforcement more difficult

NEW: Judge Subramanian's order puts—in an order—that the subpoenas are withdrawn, that DOJ will come to him if they want to try again, and that Subramanian will retain jurisdiction over "any related matters in this investigation." It also sets more briefing on the non-disclosure issue.
The subpoenas to The New York Times are withdrawn in real time, in open court, during a very embarrassing hearing for the Trump administration. Incredible work.
Inner City PressJudge: Mr. O'Neil take it away. David O'Neil of Debevoise: I have a lot to say but I'll be brief. It is important that the public know that the Government is unilaterally withdrawing these subpoenas. After this bad faith, I do not expect new subpoenas
