May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house. Opinions are my own (but they are correct) https://mattdpearce.substack.com

At a coffee shop in Bend, Ore., and just overheard the phrase “Ja Rule is performing at the Deschutes County Fair.”

On one hand, every disruptive technology comes with the obligation to normatively punish and shame people who use it for anti-social purposes, but on the other hand, please focus on your own homework.

Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

I think there is a perfectly consistent Freudian reading of Nolan’s “Odyssey” in which Nolan is saying over and over again that sexlessness and guilt are how you rebuild society. mattdpearce.substack.com/p/the-surviv...

OK but it was high camp for like 0.5 seconds when Nolan started dollying dead Agamemnon backward like he was Count Dracula.

Nolan’s Odysseus is very English. mattdpearce.substack.com/p/the-surviv...

If I’ve a complaint about the Odyssey it’s honestly that Nolan softens Odysseus way too much. He has Hector’s infant baby thrown off the walls of Troy and hangs all of his maids. He’s definitely not the type of guy to tell Penelope that she can remarry.
