so one thing i find extremely striking is that in REPUBLIC plato basically endorses the idea that qualified women should have the same rights as men--the same ability to be philosopher-kings. this is an *ancient* idea. the hard question of history is why it took so long to be even partially realized

People on the left think that heavy-handed social pressure or even the implicit threat of violence does not work to change behavior but shitty drivers very much do NOT believe that and seek to punish ("teach a lesson to") drivers they see as insufficiently aggressive
AnondsonMy wife was honked at for stopping at a stop sign, not rolling through it. The clown-size pickup tailgated her through the stop sign never even slowing much less stopping. Then tail gated her all the way for another couple miles.
