I used to be very libertarian. My only political donation is to Rand Paul for his 2010 primary campaign. I haven't voted for a Republican for federal office since 2016. Environmental issues, the Ukraine war, and the dysfunctional healthcare system had a big effect on my political views.

I'd love to ask him who, specifically, he is suggesting we need to court and who we need to abandon in pursuit of this "grander vision". After all, Democrats already aggravate their coalition members to court their detractors, and our state of affairs suggests this has not been a fruitful endeavor.
