At the moment, it seems my employer is rewarding the strongest GenAI advocates, rather than punishing opponents. But that's a paper-thin distinction.

I'm looking to amend my previous position on parking fines: they should be proportionate to a calculation based on book value and volume combined. Other automotive fines ought to be calculated on value and weight. I'm not unreasonable. Exceptions for actual tradies on jobs.

Excellent thread all round. I didn't agree with Hank on GenAI, but I disagree with lots of people on lots of things.

It was really funny in a meeting yesterday where folk were saying they used AI for red tape and organisational reports. I.e. The stuff they didn't care enough about to make sure it was accurate. AI gets traction because of poor management, in at least 2 ways.

I've reached the stage where the movie trope of putting glasses on to see something clearly no longer works. Now it's "peers rheumily at something through spectacles, removes glasses and moves head closer squinting, puts on different glasses and leans back, still intent"
