Trying to explain to people the original purpose of the 2nd Amendment isn't for citizens to have guns to use against the government but actually for citizens to use them FOR the government is like trying to get blood from a stone. Text divorced from context is ripe for subversion and manipulation.

Musk is Timothy McVeigh with a trillion dollars.
Avel Guénin--CarlutWould assume everyone knows it by now, but just in case "First the traitors, then the invaders" is an explicit reference to The Turner Diaries, where a white supremacist revolution overruns "The System" and kills all their enemy during the evocatively named "Day of the Rope".

Remember this when, not if, when Trump starts to go after journalists. They are fully onboard with the fascism because they think their job status will keep them safe. It will not, and I have no empathy for collaborators.

The asshole administration is planning to remove the mining buffer around Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. This is being done without tribal or expert input and the public comment time is incredibly, and cowardly short. Please comment to help try and save Chaco. www.koat.com/article/chac...

Again, what right wing Republicans and Democrats call "socialism" is the sort of regulated capitalism that was consensus for much of the 20th century. They pretend it's anti-market when really it's only anti-oligarchy

Pornainen, Finland (pop 5,000) is now heated by a silo of crushed soapstone. I spoke to CNBC about it. 100 MWh, charged when power is cheap, emissions down ~70%. Days to weeks of storage, no critical minerals. www.cnbc.com/2026/07/25/f...

It is great to have to have this all in one place. It’s amazing how much this weird misinformation still drives the terror of crime among people living in the safest moment in modern US history.
mtswGreat piece on the largely imaginary shoplifting surge: I do think one thing the piece misses is that a bunch of major police departments started years-long work slowdowns in 2020 where they refused to do their jobs (often falsely claiming their hands were tied by woke prosecutors)

This is mad king bullshit. This shreds the concept of America as a democracy, and everyone involved needs to go to jail for a very long time.

Trusting a capitalist's perspective on achieving a post-scarcity society is like asking a cannibal for cooking tips. Work will never be truly optional because that's how humans survive; the real difference is if the work is done by people truly passionate about it or done by robots (a.k.a. slaves).
Matt NovakAnother odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.

The Bulwark was founded by never-Trump Republicans. rats who jumped from a sinking ship and desperately need a home for their dwindling political power. they want to solidify the Democratic party as centrist at best, blocking out left-wing influence and power. just look at how they work
The BulwarkThe vibes may be exciting, but if Democrats are going to win this year and in 2028, they must reject the DSA. If you’re tempted by a democratic socialist this year, think of what use Republicans will make of these victories, and ask whether you want to do favors for fascists.
