BTW, in case that sounds like a needlessly large buffer zone, it really isn't. That amount of land is equivalent to a circle 13 miles / 21 km in radius.

The time for comments has deliberately been cut short on purpose by this Administration, in order to make it harder for the public to have any say about this stupidity... the end of July is all the time made available, so comment NOW before it is too late!

They are going to turn over federal lands to the states and practically eliminate any public comment and/or input on projects going forward. They are literally trying to commodify all public land asap. And they should and will be made to pay dearly for it.

I’m about to comment, but I’d like to suggest that this thread and/or article would be more effective if it went into some detail about why the site is special. Sure, I’ve already read about it just for funsies, but I am an avowed weirdo. Most people will not have done that.
