Someone tried to convince me to watch this because they thought I would love it after loathing the theatrical version. I laughed at them.

I don’t mind kids getting excited and reacting during a movie, because that means they’re into it, but if they literally can’t survive two hours without a device, get a babysitter or don’t go. Having kids means accepting there are going to be limitations on your leisure time for a few years.

I saw it on a “grand screen” at my local theater since I also could not get access to IMAX and I feel like it was just fine in that format. Of course, I don’t have an IMAX viewing to compare it to, so take that with a grain of salt.

People who call themselves influencers are actually often used by studios to glaze a bad movie before the inevitable real negative reviews come out. What Nolan did instead was to invite only people who ran the risk of giving him a bad review. It’s an admirably honest move in a world of deception.

So the fact he won’t let bought and paid for “influencers” in to glaze the film, the fact he only let smart and experienced people see it early, is somehow evidence that it’s going to fail? The opposite would actually be true. These people live in the world of make believe.

Other “bad” experiences no one cares about: How slow your food service was What poor condition the golf course was in How bad the traffic was Whether it rained on your tropical vacation The only bad experience worth mentioning is someone taking their phone out in a theater. That’s evil.

No one cares about how badly you say your flight went. Bad food? Tarmac delays? Long lines? Nobody cares. Did you arrive alive and intact? That means your journey was a success. I once got bumped off a flight for an entire day. I took the time to explore a city I’d never been to. Deal with it.

It may be “unprofessional” of me or whatever, but I stopped going to see movies I’m likely to dislike years ago, right about the time I stopped posting full reviews. These days, if someone wants to know what I think of, say, Scary Movie 15, they can pay me to find out.

Where did this talking point come from? And why do so many of these twits use Ryan Gosling in making their “point”? It has to have originated somewhere, and I suspect it was intentionally manufactured, bc there’s no way these people came up with it on their own. They’re much too dim for that.

Every single person saying “why not a white black panther then” should be fucking murdered. Not for being a racist, or failing to understand even the slightest thing about storytelling, but just for being really goddamn annoying while thinking they’re clever.

I’m about to comment, but I’d like to suggest that this thread and/or article would be more effective if it went into some detail about why the site is special. Sure, I’ve already read about it just for funsies, but I am an avowed weirdo. Most people will not have done that.

*shrug* I remember thinking it wasn’t a half bad movie, then I just forgot all about it. It was like a popsicle: mostly sugar, sweet to taste while it lasts, out of mind the moment it ends. For me, that is.

I remember the end credits scene and that’s about it. I’m looking at Brosnan on the poster and intellectually I know he played Dr. Fate, but I can’t recall a single thing he said or did. That’s probably not a good sign.
