The disconnect between voters and politicians on transit issues is pretty incredible: - Voters usually back funding and expansion, whereas politicians often could not care (particularly in states viewed as hostile to transit, like Texas) - Riders care *much much* more about service than fares.
I really want to ride buses but it’s so hard to depend on. AC Transit cut 72R, promising the reduction in service would make the other 72 routes reliable. Now there’s less service and it’s just as unreliable. I now check 30 min+ ahead of time to change plans if my bus is canceled, as it was today.

It’s an actual Dream Come True for me! Today I am driving a Muni Bus wearing the iconic Landor Livery, the true colors Muni is meant to display, designed by the great Walter Landor in 1975, introduced alongside the greatest logo in transit history, the Muni Worm.
I wish this "speed cameras are cash grabs" trope would die. We have recent studied in the U.S. showing that after an initial surge in ticketing, fines decline as behavior changes and people speed less.

my most authoritarian belief is probably that I'm basically fine with passive automated surveillance in public spaces especially wrt to cars. I think the backlash to speed cameras and automated license plate readers is mostly stupid given the clear public safety benefits.
