This is such a nuanced issue. While i want to remember it being positive, there was def a lot of “What’s this speed-racer shit?” mentality. Kids like myself loved it. But parents, bullies, and any newspaper editorial made it seem like “This stuff from Japan is so WEIRD!” 🙄 We won in the end tho.
