The abandonment and neglect of southern states and any attempt to coalition build because they've written them off as lost causes is one of the biggest failures of establishment Democratic policy and caused a lot of victims and cultural rot.

Only now that people are finally tired of their bullshit do they begin to scramble to use that begrudging Black support as a cudgel.

this is one of the ways in which I think the modern publishing environment, which requires the vast majority of authors to do all of their own promotional work, has been incredibly damaging "I got canceled on social media" can be a real career-ruining thing! it's not irrational to worry about it!

So, the thing I think some people in certain niches miss re: "Anime was/wasn't a stigma pre-2000" is it came in two extremes. Either: "Japanimation is ALL violent robot titty-ninja porn!" Or... "Japanimation is ALL violent robot titty-ninja porn AND THAT'S WHY IT'S BETTER THAN EVERYTHING EVER!" 🤷‍♂️
