While we are in this Greek Mythology moment, may I remind you that Emma Thompson is adapting Pat Barker’s take on The Iliad, and she’s struggled to get it made bc the focus on what acts of war against women and survival thereafter actually look like (the core of Barker’s narrative) is too intense.

Apart from DOOM, any computer game before 1995 is basically long-forgotten arcane knowledge. I remember when they made a book with 1001 games you must play and it didn't have a single King's Quest but listed all the GTAs & Mario Karts.

So, the developers of Slay The Princess went and poked me and recommended I check out Mesmalie. A short but branching and secret-laden visual novel thing (with some other bits). Y'know, the thing they know a lot about, specifically. Got lots to see yet, but needless to say, it's very good.

The sequel made mostly minor but some good gameplay changes, still need to play the third.

The very first Fist of the North Star game was actually a graphic adventure by Enix on the NEC PC-88! It was titled "Violence Gekiga Adventure", so you know it has gore! But is the game itself actually any good? ...or is it 'already dead'? youtu.be/ATqztvwvknc
