I have known Le Porge since I was a child. Much of it is now ash. We were warned this would come. We kept burning fossil fuels anyway. Adapting to this is not a plan. Stopping the cause is.

Having observed the robust signature review processes and procedures in Multnomah County Elections for *ballots,* I find it REALLY hard to believe there are "thousands of valid voter signatures being thrown out" in this ballot measure validation.
Kori 🌹Safer Portland is calling for the state to count signatures for their Pro-Cop ballot measure, rather than the city, which to me smells like desperation. The Police Union Chief calling for an elections official to be fired is a new low IIRC. www.oregonlive.com/politics/202...

This initiative should be disqualified. And further, huge kudos to the brave public employee who saw something, documented it, and said something. The idea that a public employee should have to be neutral in her private life is absurd and the spokespeople for this failing campaign know that.

Hit with a wave of climate grief after learning a new word, "pyrocumulonimbus"—fire-generated thunderstorm—on Democracy Now / KBOO today. Oregon and Washington mentioned in the same bit about historic fires in France and Spain, with an incoming 104+ heat wave in their forecasts. What are we doing?

Just finished the 3-day summit for the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators with this great Oregon crew. From energy affordability to climate displacement, my mind is brimming with new climate and environmental policy ideas and inspiration from around the US! #Inspired and #FiredUp

Brb about to go bug my husband to get a nicer plug in induction burner because the one we have is cheap and I can’t use it to make soup, but I’m beginning to think I shouldn’t be standing next to a gas stove for 2+ hours when it’s soup time.
George PearkesMan am I glad we’re getting an induction stove. www.jaci-inpractice.org/article/S221...

Things that didn’t get 20✨ articles: -Smith saying Avalos doesnt represent Black Portlanders, using guns against constituents - Pirtle Guiney yelling “fuck you!” On the dais to Sameer, making staff cry - Novick’s “fuck yourself in the heart” got 1 - Clark comparing foie gras bans to abortion bans
emilyIf you think Morillo is the councilor on the dais with “frequent outbursts” you are not paying attention. Morillo happens to have a mastery of language, unique turns of phrase, & great comedic timing, so her one liners get extra attention. (Plus the other reasons young women of color get scrutiny).

i am very certain that ditching gas is why my oldest didn't develop asthma after being pretty clearly pre-asthmatic
Sammy RothInsane new research. Scientists gave asthma patients free electric stoves to replace their gas stoves, then checked to see if symptoms improved. Not only did symptoms improve, ditching gas was *better than medicine.* Details in today's newsletter: www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/electric-s...
