maybe this is ego talking, but i’ve had two popular left-leaning podcasts for several years now and never once has anyone reached out to us looking to invest, help expand, etc. there’s just no infrastructure for that on the left.

there are people who make serious money on the left, but the ecosystem just has less money flowing around overall. there are streamers and podcasts and YouTube channels doing well, but you won't peel back the curtain and find 6 figure investments from partisans like you do on the right

Yglesias is connected enough in lefty media to know that he’s lying here. the idea that there’s significant money to be made pandering to the left is ridiculous.

It is incredible how far-right conservatives laud free markets but then, in effect, argue against the supposed correction behavior within free markets—consumer choice punishing bad corporate behavior—when it negative impacts corporate profit.
