granted i haven't read the books since high school so i am probably full of shit. but at this point i'm convinced that if *anyone* can make me care about memnoch the fucking devil, it's the crew currently making Queen of the Damned née The Vampire Lestat née Interview With The Vampire

it's just always felt like the vampire chronicles escalated way way way too quickly, lending the post-Queen of the Damned books that sort of post-Infinity War MCU feel where a world-altering apocalyptic event occurred but we spend the bare minimum time living with it before reasserting status quo.

realistically i wish that season 4 would be The End of the series, because i just don't vibe much with the later books. but we've got raglan james, so we've gotta do body thief, and we've got merrick now, so we're probably doing merrick too (or at least what wasn't already in her episode...)

much as i've loved it from the start, i've always expected this show to have an unavoidable qualitative drop-off as soon as it had to dabble in the wacky latter-book Deep Lore... but i gotta say, the one big scene we got of Akasha in season 3 has me sold. i think they might be able to pull it off.
