I just did my tax and last year i made 60% of what I used to make at Kotaku. If you have ever thought aftermath has 'made it', we have not. If you enjoy what we do, and (I hope) appreciate that we bring something to the space other sites don't or can't, please consider a paid subscription.

@aftermath.site literally does not exist without paid subscribers. It's (currently) the only way we make any money. While it's cool that over 25,000 people are subscribed to our newsletter, 'free' members actually COST us money to host, so the more people we can get signing up, the better:

once again, @shineyezehuhh.bsky.social cuts to the heart of the matter! i feel exactly like this wrt the youtube video game news sphere... there's a fundamental lack of humility and insistent self-importance that manifests in an insular, uncurious, tabloid fiction view of an entire media industry.

In concert with anime industry interviews feeling like access journalism to publications that don't play ball, the ins and outs of requests asked of journalists breathing rarefied air with creatives feel more like stringent PR than actual journalism.

These guys hate a lot of the stuff that I hate and I get a lot of gardening done while listening to them hatin' on stuff.
