Having just watched The Drama (a movie it took me 3 days and multiple instances of fast forwarding to finish), I wish I had just read this review first and skipped it. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-...

People are being extremely weird about this poor bird. The comment section on insta is a nightmare. They're calling the staff of the raptor center at home to hassle them for information. There's a conspiracy theory that the center is harming her to rake in donations. Plus making AI generated images.

If you've been following the Big Bear eagle nest cam, you know Jackie was rescued in July after getting grounded during a territorial fight with a young bald eagle. Here is where her medical journey stands now.

Bluesky devs, why are we doing this. Why is this clutter necessary. I can already see who liked my posts by clicking the Likes link. I don't need it on the post itself. This isn't Instagram.

Something I've noticed happening more and more lately are trade reviews that barely review the book. Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus will have a review that's 90% a description of the plot and characters, then 1 sentence at the end to aid librarians in deciding if it's worth adding to a collection.

I have pet rats, and one of them once figured out that I kept the trashcan in a cabinet under the kitchen sink. I figured out that he realized this when I discovered him inside the trashcan. The cabinet bottom stuck out a bit over the floor and he'd chewed a hole through it then jumped into the can.

First off, rats will solve this problem in short order, they're incredibly smart, and "rat sightings" is an absolutely hilarious metric. As we all know not seeing a rat means there are no rats, right?

Amazon has now auto-enabled Alexa Shopping AI chatbot and it is so fucking annoying. It takes up a third of the screen. There is no way to turn it off, I just have to keep clicking the close button every time I search something. It is so fucking obtrusive and totally unnecessary.

I really want to work this example into an LLM demo with my students.

As we know, "AI" doesn't do facts. It makes up patterns from random bits of data that were digitized & stolen for it, to be wrongity wrong most of the time, even on the same prompt. terribleminds.com/ramble/2025/...

I think one of the big lessons for authors to take away from this Daggermouth mess is to get it in your contracts that no one can feed your work into AI of any kind, even so-called detectors.
