Man, I don't know about this at all to be perfectly frank. "The Thing" is and always has been a standalone masterpiece, part of the thrill was that we never will know what happened to Childs and MacCready.

I feel the only way to make a Thing sequel work without ruining the original is they make it only a loose sequel. So no arctic bases (they can acknowledge the events of the film, but that's it), no cameos of Kurt Russell or Keith David, just have the Thing creature in another location with new cast
