If you're an indie developer, you should hang this screenshot on your wall and use it as inspiration to never give up

yeah... just yesterday was released 40+ videogames and guess what, pretty sure no one of them are giong to get the expected money. Is not that simple. Also Hollow Knight was published in 2017 when the market was much different Dont quit your job if you are not sure you can get money with indie games
These games were pretty different from the Jump-Start or Reader Rabbit or Math Blaster games of the time. Most of those games were effectively a series of minigames you'd be let loose to play around in from a menu hub until you reach the completion cutscene once you'd done them all X number of times
I wish they realized that about marvel, call of duty copy cats and every damn stereotypical football game, these comments are spiteful, ill hearted their only purpose is to dissuade. Glad to see they rose above that all..only to be the most awaited and hilariously affordable for everyone to enjoy.
Honestly you don't even need a second part to that sentence. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOqb...

Reminds me of people saying that Heath Ledger was going to suck as The Joker, sadly a lot of that was homophobia too, since he was most well known for Brokeback Mountain at the time and there were people saying shit like "can't believe they cast a faggot as Joker". It really goes to show how stupid-
There’s also this. pbs.twimg.com/media/D917LC...
I did check on one of them and props for them for coming back 10 yrs later and basically saying this lol
The thread got 26k upvotes and most of the popular comments are very positive. This screenshot is super misleading about the overall tone of the comments. www.reddit.com/r/gaming/com...
Last year my best friend quit his full time job to chase his dream and make a fully fledged video game. Today he just released a trailer and it looks beyond amazing.www.reddit.comBut. None of us know the future so we all need to not try to be armchair diviners whose negative nonsense are more likely to encourage failure (which I suspect these people secretly want because their terrible miserable fools) than if you simply said "Hey, man, your efforts are admirable good luck!"
I watched video yesterday why cd players shouldn't touch battlefield game. Comments reminded me them. This is video if someone is interested. youtu.be/xNXo8MUy64U?...
on the other side of the coin, there are people like these: www.reddit.com/r/gaming/com... (the top comment is actual constructive criticism, not hot garbage) like yes, Hollow Knight was an immense success, but Team Cherry did NOT work in enviable environments. it was a huge risk, like Cuphead.
"never give up" is a great message and reddit's a sour grapes vineyard but the fact remains there is truth to the saturation and for a lot of the people never giving up their stuff is going to end up in it unless they never give up and RISE ABOVE IT, they can only be as good as HK if they work at it
