My favourite computer is a cheesegrater Mac Pro from 2010, and my favourite laptop is my Pismo PowerBook G3 from 2000. It's absolutely reasonable to expect older technology to keep working (within reason) if you look after it, and to own and continue using what you've bought for it.

I would say LLMs are just mindless yes-men, but that’s an insult to Yes Man: his programming compels him to obey his leader, but he CAN think for himself and often complains if you make decisions he disagrees with.

And isn’t the food supposed to look horrible (at least in Nolan’s version)? The food in Odysseus’s home is gorged upon by rowdy usurpers, and Circe’s enchanted food turns her victims into animals. It’s not supposed to look appealing.

Denis Villeneuve has his amazing Dune films, Foundation got a TV adaptation and Neuromancer is getting a TV series next year, so I really hope we get a Hyperion film or show at some point. Or hopefully the RAMA movie climbs out of development hell.

I just listened to Vacuum by The Watch, and I'm in love. It's a soaringly beautiful prog-rock album that feels like a modern evolution of early Peter Gabriel Genesis.
