I have history in Big Bear and the rampant faux mountain suburban development of places like this and Bend just breaks my heart. We shouldn’t have to scramble to protect every small town with some semblance of nature left from becoming a woodland cosplay for the rich.

You're not alone. I've worried about the eagles being so high profile. Every day it seems we are exposed to the worst that humanity is capable of. Intentional or unintentional I have a hunch that humans are responsible for her illness.

So difficult to say. I was under the impression that rodenticides were ruled out, but there are so many environmental toxins to which poor Jackie may have been exposed. Anemia does suggest some type of bleeding - Coumadin? Fingers crossed. Cautious optimism - the Ojai Raptor Center is amazing.

Our bald eagles (3) are not on live camera or famous but hang around the shore of Lake Ontario, Kingston, where we live. High up in a tree, looking for supper. Saw one yesterday. Amazing sight. Amazing urban wildlife.
