Someone recently made a quip that, “if you’ve seen one rock, you’ve seen them all”. It was a joke, I guess, aimed in my direction and geologists more generally. Although I think the rock-centric way geology sometimes sells itself is foolish…this person couldn’t be more wrong…[1/2]

Rock lover here. Grew up in Nebraska, where my Geology 101 field trip wasn't too exciting, though I still have crinoid fossils found in a shale bed. Have since lived in Arizona, Oregon, and New Mexico. The view out my kitchen window is the Sandia nonconformity. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulpw...
