In IT, we manage crises of unknown root cause all the time. The process Dr. Fauci went through is very similar to how we do it. At first it's messy, we all come up with cockamamie theories, and as we gather facts and test the environment we narrow down to a root cause and mitigation strategy.

By keeping an open mind, I'm amazed how often I find common cause with other people, even when we disagree on other points. Example: Georgia Governor Brian Kemp's desire to see his state become a major hub for EV manufacturing.

In my experience, we're capable of evolving significantly when shown a better way. I think back to my 20s and 30s and cringe at the things I said and did back then. I very much enjoy the person I've become by the age of 52 now. We should not make assumptions. People can change.
