Enjoy this article from a Minnesota newspaper in 1882 noting that Scandinavians love their home countries so much that it will take them generations to assimilate into America. www.loc.gov/resource/sn8...

Tom Emmer: "Minnesotans are so afraid that you're gonna call us a racist, you're gonna call us an Islamophobe. You know what? I'm done being even the least bit careful. Somalis don't assimilate. And if they don't assimilate, then they should go the hell back to where they came from."

Without doing a search, my guess is that the NY Times features much more favorable ratio of coverage for the head of the Manhattan Institute than it does for the Mayor of NYC.

Seeing how many respectable liberals, and even leftists, in New York media continued to speak warmly of Reihan Salam is what made me first realize that some journalists have no criteria for moral judgment other than whether someone is personally nice to them. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/29/n...

This is smart move from BTS side cause the Grammys have a long history of dangling nominations in front of them just to farm engagement and keep viewership high by holding their performances hostage until the end of the broadcast.Pulling the plug on that one-sided dynamic is a massive power move.

BTS announces they will not submit their music for the 2027 GRAMMY awards, following the Recording Academy’s addition of an Asian-focused category: “I hope music itself can be heard and loved rather than being distinguished by region or language.”

👇🎯 But also, a) also has to include wholesale reform of our electoral, legislative, executive, & judicial institutions. Jailing the past offenders is not enough. We need to make sure the authoritarians can never gain control of the government again.

There are only three possible futures: a) everyone in the Trump admin goes to jail, rule of law partially restored; b) Dems retaliate in full, and maybe that's a deterrent; c) neither (a) nor (b), so lawless authoritarianism wins again, and when Republicans regain power they ramp it up even more.

Ah yes, a Muslim man. The most beloved identity demographic in America. A one-way fast-track ticket to political success. Especially in the midwest!

What the fuck?? “While Mr. El-Sayed is fringy and radical, he’s also a Muslim man. Ms. Stevens is a white woman. This puts her at a disadvantage in the identity Olympics that internal Democratic Party politics have become.” www.wsj.com/opinion/free...

This all goes back to the A word - accountability. If Dems take control of any levers of power - either a chamber of Congress or WH - we need to see clear, concerted, methodical effort to impose accountability. If accountability for lawlessness is not part of any “Project 2029 (or 2027) Plan” then 🚮

This is morally monstrous behavior. These are ordinary, innocent people that Trump is condemning to suffering & death out of political vindictiveness. Every decent human being, regardless of political party, should condemn it. Where is the fucking *anger*? From the press? From civic leaders? Pols?
