I’ve run across complaints about the National Lawyers Guild a lot in my research on the far right in Oregon. Here, for example, is a fascist group called “Americans Incorporated” complaining in 1938 about how the NLG has exposed the Portland police’s “red squad” staffed by many klansmen.

The report frames organizations like the National Lawyers Guild and the DSA as fronts for Cuban Communist infiltration with the intent of destroying Western civilization. This is just conspiracy-addled McCarthyism as official State Department policy.
