I don't typically share stories in the New York Times, by I felt there was something remarkable about this profile of the wealthy in Myanmar - an observation and implied critique of the wealthy in a foreign place that stands in for unwritten close reads of our own ruling class.

I think it’s a remarkably stupid thing for a political candidate to say. This is not the first time people have pointed out Vance’s hypocrisy on this issue, but to pull his children into it and say that you somehow know what’s in Vance’s mind about his own kids is over the line.

I strongly disagree with using violence, for a number of reasons, but if I did believe in violence I wouldn't find this essay convincing. Hancox-Li argues that we should judge actions on their effectiveness, and agrees left-wing violence can be effective, naming Mangione and Robinson as examples.
