i still just really feel like AI stuff is basically illegal. like I don't think a good faith interpretation of "fair use" entails vacuuming up everyone's intellectual property to build your chat bot. that sounds wrong to me

yes I agree that the AI book shredding thing is very, very bad it is however completely legal, it is their legal alternative to the illegal act of 'making a copy of the book and leaving the original the fuck alone', this destruction of books is a direct consequence of intellectual property law
