I suppose I am also being flippant, but there are some really negative patterns of interaction coming from the anti-ai zealots, eg the behavior towards anyone that has ever posted AI art. It seems like it could / should be managed.

Like a network view that stops you with "Hey, you normally stick to chudville, are you sure you want to post this shitty meme-take to a sincere, thinking person?"

I wonder if we have the ability to pre-scan an interaction and say "Hey, this looks like the sort of flippant, self-congratulatory populist reply slop that will get you blocked immediately. Are you sure you want to post?" Maybe with a "Getting blocked for this will lead to account moderation."

Beyond any particular thing an AI can do, this is one of its most transformative abilities: creating an algorithmically addressable membrane between your intelligence and all of the intelligence, intuitions, and tastes of the whole world. Well harnessed, it's pretty fucking good at recommendations!

Maybe not world ending, but a world wide disruption of any and all hackable electronic systems isn’t great! Computational / algorithmic overhang, along with a few years of compute development puts today’s top models in the hands of everyone. An illicit bot net could hack a lot of things.

We don’t even need ASI for a lot of bad things to happen. A non-sentient but competent AI can develop a lot of misaligned instrumentality in pursuit of nominal human goals. This isn’t speculation either. The Hugging Face hack is a clear example.

Anti-AI zealots always bring up Fahrenheit 451, but ironically their populist anti-intellectualism is more akin to the populist bottom-up censorship of the book burners. The heroes of the story religiously *scanned and memorized books*. They absorbed their patterns and made them available again.
