It speaks to Carney's concept of sovereignty that Canada is both increasing protectionism and Buy Canadian policies for private sector, at the same time as increasing foreign ownership of existing state assets

Adam Radwanski

As Mark Carney’s foreign investment summit approaches, Bay Street buzz has been mounting - but so has pressure for the government to show results in proving Canada is open for business. What sort of sales pitch will that lead to? My column: www.thestar.com/business/opi...

Canada is trading real and immediate harms for speculative long-term benefits. We need to think twice about the race to adopt AI indiscriminately across every sector of society and the economy. Major new @policyalternatives.ca report on AI: www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

Time to repost this @benschneider.bsky.social article! This woman predicted that a policy decision was going to result in mass homelessness. She was right.

106 Years Ago She Predicted Today’s Housing Crisis. What if we’d Listened? In 1919, Edith Elmer Wood drew the connection between ratcheting minimum housing standards and an inevitable crisis of homelessness. Her predictions have proved eerily accurate.www.planetizen.commtsw

i think people look at homelessness as a relatively new phenomenon and reason backwards to think that in the Before Times, poor people must've all been able to afford houses/their own apartments etc. Most of the housing types the poor used were actually just outlawed (boarding houses, SROs etc)

1/ Outrageous and unacceptable. The Namaygoosisagagun First Nation wasn’t warned of the blaze that burned their community to the ground and were not given supports to evacuate.

Winnipeg Free Press

OTTAWA – A small Ontario First Nations community that was burned to the ground by a raging wildfire on Monday is being deprived of the help it needs because the federal government doesn’t recognize it as a First Nation, the community’s lawyer said.
