You know your date is about to go poorly when he nearly chokes on how "spicy" green Tabasco is, but even I could not have predicted what comes next 🤣

I guarantee my book is not at all full of healthy behaviours and relationships, in fact some quite fucked up stuff happens and I am expecting you to just deal with it. Thank you in advance for now cancelling me.
jawless-fishtheres this one tumblr post ive seen talking about that phenomenon but w fiction writing that I think about often
this is one of the ways in which I think the modern publishing environment, which requires the vast majority of authors to do all of their own promotional work, has been incredibly damaging "I got canceled on social media" can be a real career-ruining thing! it's not irrational to worry about it!

Doing a Harry Potter collab is absolutely wild and indefensible, doing it and saying you’ll donate a cut of the proceeds to GLAAD tells me you ran the numbers and decided your profits were more important than our entire community’s survival but you feel a LITTLE bad.
Seanan McGuireUnique Vintage, a company that does an annual Pride collection and has always encouraged customers to see them as a queer-friendly vendor, has just announced their Harry Potter collection.

"Death of the author" is a literary theory that emphasizes the personal interaction and connection to an artistic work over the concept of an authorial ultimate meaning. "Separate the art from the artist" is a catchphrase to mumble to yourself so you can justify buying more Harry Potter shit.
There's that horror novel I did one and a half drafts of (bunch of zombies locked up in a research facility slowly losing their humanity). Liked bits of it, the first few chapters are good stuff, but it had problems too vast to ever be fixed. #SummerOfStories

I don't think I could possibly argue that I think it's intentional, but the fact that the film begins with a trans person being sacrificed, and that this decision haunts Odysseus throughout the film and signifies the point where everything starts to go wrong, certainly felt significant to *me*.
Todd in the ShadowsOn the other hand, it's deeply anti-imperialist, anti-rich privilege and its critique of the Trojan War is basically "no blood for oil." (And I think, on some level, anti-man; I think we're meant to think Circe had a point.) I don't think the diverse casting is window-dressing, in other words.
Gosh I wonder why he disabled replies on this, were people pointing out something about the policies of the party he belongs to? We may never know
Mayor of London, Sadiq KhanMy thoughts are with everyone affected by the horrific attack in Berlin and their families. This appalling act of violence has no place in our society. London stands in solidarity with Berlin’s LGBTQ+ community. This is why Pride matters. Those who seek to spread hatred and division will never win.
Sorry but what do they mean journalists are self-censoring on trans issues, they're publishing hundreds of venomous articles a day about us. What does it look like when they're not self-censoring
Aurelien MondonThis is grim and a direct consequence of decades on mainstreaming of far-right politics and euphemisation of the threat they pose Calling it "rightwing" here is exactly what has gone wrong for example 1/ www.theguardian.com/media/2026/j...
