One time my mom was at Goodwill and she saw a guy go up to this poster, buy it, then rip it into pieces and give it back to the cashier. So my mom took it from the cashier, taped it back together, and kept it because she thought it was funny. It's been on the wall for 16 years. Art is context.

The inferiority complex everyone has with California and LA is palpable every time I travel to more rural parts of the US. It's subtle, but always there. There's always a conversation where someone has to rag on it somehow, even just a little bit. Like a small dig, and I have to accept it.

A thing that is annoying about my career is that every time I read a comic or a book there’s a part of my brain constantly going “can I can adapt this into something somehow?” because those are often the only things that get made and I need a job. It’s like everything I read has an ulterior motive.

It's crazy how not worried I am about ever having to prove that my work isn't AI. I have many versions of everything I ever make, I have sketches underneath or pre-writing thoughts, outlines, what-have-you. I can defend and discuss every word I've ever written. I'm just not worried about it.

I block or mute a lot of people because they had such a bad opinion that it colors all the rest of their opinions on other matters of taste, and I don't ever want to accidentally take their opinion to heart without remembering that they have a history of bad opinions.
