The U.S. now has about 41 days of crude oil left in its strategic reserve. Get gas while you can still barely afford it.

Buy an electric car

Great idea since most Americans have 40k or more at their disposal.

Ответ для Nico 🐸

Skyrocketing gas prices will rip through the economy whether you drive or not.

Ответ для Nico 🐸

Public transit is the best option

Ответ для Nico 🐸

I want one

Ответ для Nico 🐸

I wish EV conversions became common for older vehicles!

Ответ для Nico 🐸

I believe they are still refining and deliveries are continuing. price may go up but gas will be plentiful. (if there was truly a shortage you would see gas lines and limits)

the oil embargo was lifted in 2015, then American oil could be sold on the global market. So we buy our own oil at global rates now instead of buying US only oil at much lower price. Even with producers reducing refinery capacity, we were just fine. Want cheap oil back? Reinstate the embargo...

Nah, he’ll cave just like last time.

Wasn't the US self sustaining in it's oil production? "However, by any of those definitions, the U.S. was still “energy independent” in 2021 under President Joe Biden — contrary to claims made by Republicans who have suggested otherwise."

Amtrak just purchased 19 diesel locomotives.

I can't wait to see what happens! Russia is in the same situation due to Ukrainian long range sanctions!

I’ll be riding the motorcycle more often, at 45-50mpg, I’m sure. The car is getting too expensive.

And not even close to all of that is useable.

Prices we’ve never seen before and lines to fill up like the 70s which were rediculous Get ready maga You’re in line with everyone who voted for Kamala Ps I’m retired so I don’t have to gas up often anymore But y’all enjoy the fascist surcharges It’s the price of an absent congress and unsupreme

We will have great public transportation only when the 1 percent are interested in using it—rather than drive huge vehicles on roads they refuse to pay for.

Check Trump’s Freedom Fuel for Fools.

You may be better at deciphering the information at this link than I am. Most of the information easily found online is for 2025. Oil in reserve appears to be being used up alarmingly fast, but where the 41 days came from doesn't seem to be readily available. global-energy-flow.com/storage/oil/

Oil Inventory Levels — US Crude, SPR & OECD Days of Cover | GEFWhere the world's oil buffer stands: US commercial crude ~409.7M bbl (resumed draw), SPR at 316.5M bbl — lowest since April 1983, total incl SPR ~726.2M bbl, and OECD/EU days of cover — the inventory ...global-energy-flow.com

That's supposed to be enough for two years of all out war like WWII, oil is why Germany lost its war with the allies. If you were Putin trying hard to do SERIOUS damage to this country, you'd start there. I smell a HUGE rat in the white house

Or just switch to altenative fuels already.

So trump will nųke Iran in the next 40 or days? Makes sense.

Gas now is consider pushing GOLD ! USA is a failure biggest problem managing your politicians closely during running for office and especially when we hire them in office !

Fortunately oil prices are on their way up again aren't they? What a shock #gopoil

Heating oil for heat this winter ❄️?

Your tax dollars hard at work... just not for you

The members of Congress who are pretending to resist the Trump and Netanyahu regimes are traitors to U.S. Citizens! Our founding fathers would be appalled by your treason and cowardice! Disgusting and shameful!😰

😒😒

I am so glad that the war ends, like, once a week. For a minute I thought maybe our brain trust government was a bunch of syphilitic baboons. Whew!

Why is nobody believing this??? It's driving me nutty

Holy shit. I knew it was close, but not this close.

Or get an EV.

Voters will remember this.

Lack of gas affects way more than driving. It literally affects everything.

Ответ для Geoff-f-f-fa!

Maybe we should learn how to get by with fewer fossil fuels. Just a suggestion.

Just reminding you that Canada, your largest importer of crude oil, is not needed for anything according to Cheeto Jezuz.

I filled both cars 40 cents ago.

Is that counting the oil tankers he stole? Or did he already sell all that and add it to his wallet. I'm actually surprised the fuel shortage has not happened already. I'm afraid it will cripple the country. It may be the worst one we've ever seen. So, Congress - when is enough enough to stop?

So little is being said about this in MM. WEIRD

Less. Don't believe a single data point this administration publishes. And that's crude petroluem, not gas. Gasoline: 19 to 20 gallons Diesel and heating oil: 11 to 13 gallons Jet fuel: 3 to 5 gallons Heavy fuel oil, lubricants, asphalt, and other byproducts: 4 to 9 gallons

The murder of tens of thousands of innocent children doesn’t move the needle on American political sentiment but gas breaks $5/gallon and it’s all “give peace a chance” This country makes me sick.

The shortage ploy is older than my kids and I’m a grandfather

(pssst, used EVs are hilariously affordable compared to gas cars and have sensational powertrain warranties)

Ответ для pepperoni-dogfart

With solar. If you're using energy provided by power companies, it's gonna get mighty expensive as well. Or we'll die in a coal fired hellscape.

What is that number based on?

Ответ для scienceplease

There is a functional minimum to prevent damage that could hinder future use. We are very near that.

How many days are usually there?

Well, tankers bottoms are full of crap: water. sand, scale, paraffin, etc. So you avoid using tank low suctions to feed the refinery. So it's less.

I can't wait for all the gas to be gone! This will be fucking hilarious as they try to spin it, and we see MAGAts trying to push their fucking massive trucks like some wannabe Flintstones shit.

In 41 days the shit will really hit the fan.

It sure would be a shame if the US ran out completely before the midterms...

I'm old enough to remember the oil embargo in 1979. I'm expecting this time to be a lot worse.

Sitting here with my solar and wind setup, with all the small engines on the farm running on our own fuel alcohol. And smiling.

Ответ для Michael R. Burhans 💙📚 🌶️

This is the way. Get off the oil grid as much as you can. We don’t grow our own food enough either.

Ответ для Michael R. Burhans 💙📚 🌶️

And you’ll get a bailout by the government to boot. Well played.

Ответ для Michael R. Burhans 💙📚 🌶️

...good planning...a necessity on a 21st Century farm have you planned for the collapse of America's foreign markets for your agri-business's survival...?

What is normal, and how much of the strategic reserve is kept in case of war, in days?

Ответ для Beebs

DJT & Co. seem determined to create as many crises as they possibly can, ideally overlapping, so they can then ram through their preferred emergency fixes and a hell of a lot of other crap too.

Maybe start adopting even more renewable sources.

Hybrids are great, too. But everyone I know fills up their vehicle now when it’s half full, hybrid or not.

Sorry for those having to deal with this, but I haven’t pumped gas in 4 years.

Ответ для David Newman

I don’t get why “average” US drivers use so much gas. I drive a gas vehicle. But thanks to living in a highly walkable/bikeable neighborhood, and using public transit when feasible, I log only about 8,000 miles/year. That’s mostly outdoor adventures and visits to out-of-state relatives.

Considering the insanity around Toilet paper at the height of COVID-19, has shortages are going to be a nightmare in the U.S. How many gas related shootings are coming?

Ответ для Ian

Considering how many videos are coming out of Russia of people fist fighting each other in a gas station queue, probably not 0

The exports must stop.

Or buy a wonderful electric vehicle

Great advice

So the PedoTraitor's MAGAt gas stations will crater and close. So much winning !

He has really done one on the US

So how is that Venezuela oil flowing? Just maybe the tariffs on Canada was a bad idea seeing how they supplied the majority of the type of oil we refine. Of course we could accelerate green energy and cut our demand.

Sitting in my Toyota BZ so happy that I never have to go to a gas station again.

Trump has been selling our oil to line his personal pockets because Republicans and SCOTUS don’t care…. 100 years ago it destroyed a president who later died in office

I am so very lucky I can walk to town Will the supply trucks deliver to the stores if there is no gas ? ⛽

Has any other President ever drained the strategic reserves to this extent? Asking for a friend.

Ответ для rporter610

Actually, yes, but the president who did so didn't cut off/disrupt the supply chain, or stifle other energy projects.. it's quite the combination. But yes, Biden did in 2022, though the level today may be even lower than the lowest it went under him.

.

Look at the bright side, it's projected to hit $4.20 soon so that will be another opportunity for Elon Musk to demonstrate that he has the mind of a 14 year old.

Ответ для .

Looks like $4.20 will be SpaceX share price pretty soon at this rate

But I am reliably told by Mr Trump that the Straits of Hormuz have no effect on oil supplies and Mt Hegseth says its closure has no effect on the US economy. Surely they are not telling porkies are they? (pork pies is rhyming slang for lies).

If that happens, i'll buy an E bike and just use that for everything. I already had to stop going to my normal places since i can't afford the gas or to go out anymore. Trump has made all my bill skyrocket at least 50%. There will be many deaths related to gas once the lines are miles long.

The feds will be closing that well before 41 days are up, to save for military use. So, for civilians, probably more like 25 to 30 days.

Should I fill up some plastic shopping bags while I'm there? 🤔

It’s going to hurt people from across the spectrum but I do get some small joy in the fact that right wingers have been buying bigger gas guzzlers over the years instead of going green 😂

Thank goodness we got a hybrid car right before all this. We’ve only filled up once since all this started. 😮‍💨

Thank a republican.

That doesnt determine gas prices though. We dont put crude in our cars. The stock price, global supply and demand, taxes, refinement costs play a role but simply how many days of reserves doesnt...

Ответ для Lord Wilhelm ❌️👑

It does when prices are kept down by draining reserves.

Ответ для Lord Wilhelm ❌️👑

Supply and demand. Supply went down when Iran closed Hormuz, which is part of the reason why prices increased as 20% of the world's petroleum comes through the straight. So the US government opened the reserves to increase supply to offset the loss and keep prices lower than they should be.

I have a bicycle. And there are a couple close grocery stores. I can also do delivery.

The race who gets out of oil first, Russia or the US. If someone would have told me this 20 years ago I wouldn't believe it at all.

Oh, great! That's why prices are going so quickly.

Wonder if MAGA are tired of all the winning yet…..

Sounds reasonable, but sources, please

Trump has been sucking it dry for no strategically justifiable reason.

Glad I don’t drive anymore

Ответ для Levi Anthony Luckenbach

Yeah but the problem is products on the shelves have to arrive somehow too from the port or from the manufacturer.

Or get a hybrid or electric.

Ответ для GrisGris

Ebikes are incredibly cheap and can do most of the things a car can!

Are you great yet? 🤔Asking for the world 🌎

I'd love to just sit at a gas station and watch the chaos unfold.

Doomer hysterics: treating a strategic buffer like it’s the last can of beans in the apocalypse. Gas prices might fluctuate, but we’re not about to see $20/gallon and horse-and-buggy season because the reserve dipped. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve isn’t your local gas station.

What a disaster for the most powerful country in the world, brought to its knees by Iran. Rather than removing the cancer they will blame Biden while Americans suffer. This is now heartbreaking.

Yeah, I hear they're paying over $40+ USD per gallon if they can get any in Russia, so something to look forward to in a month & a week...

We're screwed with the bombings happening now and earlier

#30million8/30 How can we be assured we will stand for our democracy when we cannot even assemble a mass protest? Are we pathetic and weak? 30 million marching on August 30th. I am not seeking likes. Repost. It requires all of us to participate. We are not weak and we are unafraid.

I would say rather, get gas as long as there still is any 🤷‍♀️

🇨🇦...we will help-as well as we can we just can't help out much with the Price your government says you have to pay 50% more for it, now curious...? why...?

Ответ для macguillemhoire

The end goal is indentured slavery. Hungry people would do almost anything.

That's going to be fun. When all the roided up angry white assholes driving their giant tiny penis trucks get REALLY angry and nasty.

Or buy a bike instead if that's an option.

E-bikes (pedal-assist) are awesome.

That doesn't include commercial inventory. But, we're gonna be in deep shit soon.

Trumps Iran gas repercussions will hit long before the Midterms. Does anyone think the GOP thought this through? Trump is setting them up for the big fall! Trump has been siphoning off the reserves to make citizens think the Iran 🇮🇷 WAR isn’t so bad. He’s been manipulating the gasoline pump prices.

Good time to trade in for a cheap used EV before there’s a run on them. Charge at home for your daily commute.

And prepare for grossly inflated EV prices

Sounds like a great time for canada to stop oil exports to US?

Ответ для Fac Americae Abire

How about a great time to stop US crude oil exports. Exporting our crude was illegal until 2015.

Just filled my tank at $3.79 per gallon.

trump brags that we own all the oil in Venezuela; so ... does that oil have to go through Hormuz first or?

Ответ для Delta Bravo

With trump, brags = lies.

We pull up SO MUCH OIL. Why can we not keep our oil instead of selling it overseas? Trying to find reason or good sense in this government is an exercise in futility.

Ответ для thebestlancifer

Most oil is not government owned. It's owned by the companies that produced it. They sell to whomever pays the most.

He has to go. His policies restrict EV marketing and development. And now this. We’re going to look like Russia.

I wish more people would read this - it is truly frightening. I'm filling both cars today, and my little 3 gallon container for my lawnmower. Our gas here just jumped $.20 a gallon IN ONE DAY!

There goes the whole “return to office” mandate…. Lol

Gas lines for the mid-terms. I'm sure Trump will win in a landslide.

Ответ для Thakman📎🇺🇸

Not a landslide. By just enough to make it look legitimate, in only the places necessary.

Meanwhile; Nero lets it all burn 🔥

Australia has 38 days because of the actions of the USA. Farmers in South East Asia cant get fertiliser because of the actions of the USA. People may starve because of the etc. But hey on the upside, the USA is empowering Saudi Arabia to have a "nuclear industry"(bomb)

How imbecilic do you have to be to start a war with Iran without topping off the Strategic Petroleum Reserve first before you started it?

Ответ для dipradan

How imbecilic do you have to be to start a war with Iran without realizing it could disrupt shipping through the Straight of Hormuz?

This makes no sense since we only got 2% of our oil from the Persian gulf There’s a lie somewhere. Is it fearmongering to price gouge? I honestly don’t know

Ответ для Millie, or Mills if we’re friends

Oil markets are global markets. The U.S. is the world’s largest oil producer, but we export a large portion of that oil. It goes to where it’s most profitable to sell.

Just went to the store. The streets were so empty there were no cars to trip the traffic light for me, but there was no cars on the cross-street, so I casually ran the red light. The streets were lined with parked cars. If not for the higher prices on food, it would be cool.

Canada is looking more like a Trump sadsack target every day.
